Technical information

The below technical information is provided for audio visual staff at other locations who need to connect to Deakin university's videoconferencing infrastructure. This information is not intended for standard users of videoconference technology - instead please see our page on connecting to the Deakin videoconferencing bridge.

Deakin uses Cisco Conductor for dynamic MCU allocation.

We currently do not provide support for the following technologies at the present time;

  • SIP
  • 3G
  • Using web cameras to join a video conference

Endpoint details

Deakin has over 200 endpoints, all of which are Cisco/Tandberg endpoints. Most endpoints in central meeting rooms and teaching spaces are in the Cisco C-Series  range, some older units are the in Cisco/Tandberg MXP range.

We recommend that the remote site be capable of at least 768kbps. Speeds lower than this are likely to give a poor videoconference experience.

Management system

Deakin uses Tandberg Management System (TMS) to schedule bookings and for system monitoring purposes.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
