File Transfer Protocol (FTP) Clients

By using an FTP client, you can transfer files between your computer and server. Files can be programs for your computer, web pages you've created, or documents you have written.

Note: Downloads of FileZilla, the Windows FTP client previously recommended by the Software Library, now contain adware and malware. We recommend that you do not install FileZilla. If you have installed it, we recommend uninstalling it and scanning your computer for malware.

If you want to transfer files to and from your Deakin home directory, use the following settings in your FTP program:

  • Server:
  • Connect using Protocol: SFTP
  • Username: [Your Deakin Username]
  • Password: [Leave Blank]
    • you will be prompted for this when you connect
  • Directory or Path: [Leave Blank]
