Audacity

Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X and other operating systems. The portable version can be installed on a memory stick. You can use audacity to record live audio, convert taps and records into digital recordings or CDs and cut, copy, splice and mix sounds.

Audacity is used by the staff and students of broadcast journalism. It is also used at times by the staff and students of animation, digital culture and interactive media.
