Office applications

LibreOffice is a free, open-source alternative to Microsoft Office, based on but improving upon OpenOffice, which has built-in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database and other facilities. It is available for Windows, Mac and Linux and can read and write Microsoft Office-compatible documents.

Note that Microsoft Office-format documents are the standard used by Deakin University; if you use alternatives such as LibreOffice, you need to convert files into Office formats before exchanging them with others.
