Statistical Software

SPSS is a package for statistical analysis and is available for all staff members to install.

SPSS 12.0 and below: The vendor has ceased access and support for SPSS for Windows versions 12.0 and earlier. All users need to upgrade to version 15.0.

Note: Due to a change in the way that SPSS is now licensed, staff will have to be connected to the Deakin VPN when using this software from off-campus. For assistance on how to use and/or configure VPN connections into Deakin, refer to the VPN User Guide.

Windows Vista Compatibility: This Patch is only for Version 15 which is currently available to off-campus students, it can be downloaded here (6.5MB), follow these instructions to install (download instructions). Version 15 will be available for staff soon via the software page and Phoenix Software Catalogue.

QSR NUD*IST is a statistical application for Windows and Macintosh computers for development, support and management of qualitative data analysis projects.

Minitab Release 15 is a powerful statistical software package that provides a wide range of data analysis and graphics capabilities; intuitive user interface; clean, clear output; and extensive, context-sensitive on-line help. It can be installed on on campus computers (not home workstations)

Amos is a statistical add-on for SPSS.

XLStatistics is a set of Microsoft Excel (ver 5+) workbooks for statistical analysis of data. The workbooks are designed to implement a step-by-step guide to data analysis with separate workbooks for handling data with different numbers and types of variables. The package contains most of the standard analyses 1-, 2- and 3-variable analyses together with analyses using only summary data, power analysis/sample size selection, nonparametric tests, curve fitting routines, non-linear regression, analysis for 2x2 tables. All the working and code is visible.

XLStatistics requires Microsoft Excel 5.0 or above for Macintosh or Windows, and may be downloaded by any Deakin University staff or students who may find it useful.
