Privacy

Deakin University collects personal information in the performance of its core objects as defined under the Deakin University Act 2009 (Vic).

The University complies with the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) and the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic) in its management of personal information.

The University has appointed a Privacy Officer to respond to enquiries from the public in respect to privacy at Deakin, and to receive complaints made to the University about alleged privacy breaches.

Police and other law enforcement agencies seeking access to personal information held by the University should direct their request to the Privacy Officer.

Individuals may request access to their own personal information held by the University.  These requests are managed under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
