It is important that all staff and students help to protect the assets of the University (informational, physical and personal). To help achieve this, a two-part IT security awareness program has been developed. By participating in this program you can better understand the potential for the deliberate or accidental theft, damage or misuse of critical University data.
The IT security website, located at www.deakin.edu.au/its/it_security/, contains Deakin-specific information on topics such as policies, protecting your data and reporting a security incident.
There is also an IT security awareness training module, accessible to all staff and students, within the IT essentials area of Deakin Studies Online. This program addresses computing best practices and user behaviour, and includes a short quiz to test your knowledge. Some of the subjects examined include:/p>

The website and training module are updated on an ongoing basis to meet the needs and concerns of the University community.
