Deakin University was one of only twelve universities to win prestigious national awards for teaching excellence from the Australian Learning and Teaching Council in late 2009. The University congratulates two Deakin staff: Dr Claire Macken for her award in Teaching Excellence Early Career category and Mr Abdel-Hakeem Kasem for his award in Teaching Excellence: Humanities and Arts category.
