In the event Deakin's Off-Campus Housing Service receives a complaint that a landlord or landlord's property fails to comply with the law then it may be necessary or appropriate to report such matter to local council, Consumer Affairs Victoria or other relevant authority.
Deakin's Off-Campus Housing Service reserves the right to remove a listing without notice, at its discretion. The Service is not responsible for any errors or omissions in listings.
Privacy
Deakin University respects the privacy of users of its website and complies with the Information Privacy Act 2000 (Vic) when collecting, using, or handling personal information.
Collection Statement
The University will collect your personal information (name, address, email address, phone number, student identification number, details of your course, country of origin), via the "HouseMe" registration process for the purpose of operating the HouseMe website, including providing your details to potential accommodation providers, and to enable us to contact you in association with off-campus housing.
Storage
The University will hold your personal information on secure computer servers and in paper record format.
Use and Disclosure
The University will only disclose your personal information with your permission to potential accommodation providers, for the purpose of putting you in touch with potential accommodation providers. In the event of a complaint or issue requiring investigation by the University's housing staff or external authorities, your personal information may be provided to Consumer Affairs Victoria and/or Victoria Police and/or the appropriate local council. Unless required by law, the University will not disclose your personal information obtained via the "HouseMe" registration process to other third parties.
Access to personal information
Access to and correction of personal information held by the University is managed in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
