Student Life

HouseMe

Information for Parents

Having a child move away from home for the first time can be a daunting process for both students and their parents. It is essential to understand this service has a large volume of properties available for rent by students. While we do not run out of properties it is important not to leave your search until the last minute, as this can cause undue stress.

The Off-Campus Housing Service aims to assist students in finding safe, student friendly accommodation while they study at Deakin. To support this, the service strives to educate and inform both students and their families about housing options as well as tenancy rights and responsibilities in Victoria.

The service provides a face to face facility, by appointment, at each of our campuses. For convenience the service supports international, interstate, rural and regional students via email and telephone. Our staff have an intimate knowledge of the local area, local landlords and the types of students in various properties. Our aim is to encourage students studying similar courses or coming from similar backgrounds to link in together.

At Deakin we strive to provide a supportive environment as well as a good education. In addition to accommodation services Student Life also provides services in Counselling, Study Skills, a Medical Centre, Multifaith Chaplaincy, Financial Assistance, International Student Support, and Careers and Employment.

Deakin University acknowledges the traditional land owners of present campus sites.
