Students and parents must be aware that, with the exception of the Off-Campus Housing Service, there are limited Deakin services available to students prior to enrolment. Please note there are no facilities for student to enrol prior to the set enrolment dates. Deakin recommends that you stay in short term accommodation for a brief period in order to find a suitable long term accommodation option. Many students want to pre-organise permanent accommodation to move straight into, and attempt to organise this online, by phone or via email prior to their arrival. This can be very dangerous and many students end up losing their money. The safest and best option is to organise a few nights of short term accommodation for when you arrive, so that our Housing Officers can work together with you to find suitable long term accommodation.
Local students looking for off campus accommodation are able to come to campus and chat with a Housing Officer face-to-face, give us a call or simply register on-line. Once registered you will be kept up to date with current properties that fit your criteria. Our staff have an intimate knowledge of the local area, local landlords and the types of students currently occupying various properties. Our aim is to encourage students studying similar courses or coming from similar backgrounds to link in together.
