Introduction

On-campus Child Care is available for staff, students and the community at three Deakin University locations: Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and the Warrnambool Campus.

Other municipal child care services are available.

Qualified, experienced and caring staff provide high quality care for children under school age. The Burwood, Geelong and Warrnambool Centres have achieved national Child Care Accreditation of the highest standard.

Families wishing to use on-campus Child Care are encouraged to visit the Centres and become familiar with the Centre staff and programs. An informed choice can then be made as to the most appropriate care for your child. Full time, daily or occasional care is available at each Centre and rates at all locations are competitive with other local Centres.

Registration

Register at your campus Child Care Centre as soon as you know you need care, even if times and days are not known, as places are in demand. Waiting lists can be long, particularly at Geelong and Melbourne. It is recommended to register 12 months prior to care being needed, if possible.

Deakin staff

Deakin staff have the added benefit of being able to salary sacrifice their child care fees. The Human Resources Services Division can provide more information.

Deakin students

Students may be eligible for the Federal Government Child Care Benefit (CCB). This is calculated by Centrelink on a formula basis and can differ for each family. For further information you should enquire at your local Centrelink office.
