Deakin University provides services for students who have a disability or a medical condition which affects their ability to achieve their academic goals. Students wishing to receive services must first register with the Disability Resource Centre (DRC) at Deakin University, and supply current supporting documentation presented in English.
The definition of disability as used in the Disability Discrimination Act is very broad and includes people who have a physical, learning, sensory, psychiatric or medical condition. A disability can be permanent or temporary. Students who are a full time sole carer of a person with a disability, may also qualify for some of the DRC services.
