Role of the DRC in alternative assessment
The role of the Disability Resource Centre (DRC)
staff is to determine appropriate changes or accommodations to examinations,
tests,
and
other forms
of assessment
for students registered with a disability.
Examinations
- Once these have been determined, a request is
forwarded to the Division of Student Administration (DSA), which is
the area that administers semester examinations. Assessment staff from
DSA will advise Unit Chairs that alternative arrangements are in place,
and notify students of their entitlements prior to each semester exam period.
- If your disability or condition is permanent or
ongoing, the examination arrangements will remain in place until the end
of your study unless you would like them reviewed or changed.
- Alternative assessment arrangements for temporary
and fluctuating disabilities or conditions will be reviewed after each
examination period.
Class tests, assignments, class presentations
- Once information from the student regarding the
times and dates of these are received, the DRC staff will determine the
requirements and inform the unit chair. It is the responsibility of the
unit chair to implement alternative arrangements. Alternative assessment
arrangements for temporary and fluctuating disabilities or conditions will
be reviewed each semester.
