Welcome to the Spring edition of Graduate Gateway. If you are an employer, I strongly urge that you take a few minutes to read the article on the Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement - the "AHEGS". Why? Because graduating students will be presenting you with this new form of certification that details the course(s) they have studied and their other academic achievements from this year onwards.

University staff will be aware of the need to ensure that our students have developed the requisite attributes to compete in the graduate labour market. The employer and graduate perspectives are nicely covered in this edition with a summary from recent employer focus groups and comments from a former Deakin graduate.

The articles on the recent Deakin "Career Readiness Symposium" and Boot Camp for vacation work indicate current thinking and practice at Deakin to help improve the employment prospects for our grads.
