What we do

The Health Service provides students and staff of Deakin University access to a professional, confidential, and cost effective range of medical and nursing services staffed by general practitioners and division one registered nurses.

Services include:

• Vaccinations (general, travel, study and work related)
• Exercise, dietary and weight management advice
• Stress management techniques
• Tests and investigations (for example blood tests)
• Referral options to other health care providers (for example dentists, naturopaths)
• Contraceptive advice and education
• Pregnancy testing and counselling
• Management of eating disorders
• Mental health prevention, treatment and advice (for example depression, anxiety)
• Drug and alcohol counselling (for example smoking cessation)

Health-related needs of sub-groups are equally important, including disability, international/exchange, residences, mature age, off campus and country students.

We encourage staff and students to take a preventative approach to their health, by providing resources including top health topics,
latest health news and health information links.
