We are committed to providing professional development support to general staff. General staff may be eligible for support in the form of study leave and fee reimbursement.
In order to be eligible for study support:
- the course of study must be relevant to your role and included in your performance planning and review (PPR) plan
- the course must lead to an enhancement of your skills and provide benefit to the University
- you must have been employed with Deakin in a continuing or fixed term role for at least 12 months
- you must have achieved a rating of at least 'successful' in your most recent PPR review
Study support fee reimbursement is granted on a sliding scale at the discretion of the head of the organisational area up to a yearly maximum, subject to the area's available budget. Supervisors should refer to the Supervisor's Assessment Tool in the study support application form (PDF, 190.2 KB) to determine the type and level of study support to be granted.
After completion of the unit, the employee must complete a Payment Voucher form. Then, a receipt for course fees paid or a HECS/HELP invoice must be submitted to Accounts Payable with a copy of the signed application form, results notification and an enrolment notice for the issuing of a payment voucher. NOTE: Study support reimbursement should not be claimed via TEMS.
A copy of this form must also be provided to the Human Resources Division for recording purposes. Should the Human Resources Division not receive a copy, study support will not be granted.
You should discuss your intention to apply for study support with your supervisor through the PPR process.
