Positions are available with the following organisations:
Barwon Community Legal Service (BCLS) are seeking law students who wish to complete an internship in legal training to gain practical, first-hand legal experience.
What is the position?
Based in the Belmont office in Geelong, volunteer interns will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and run their own files, under the supervision of qualified lawyers.
There will also be experience days in the Family Violence jurisdiction of the Magistrate's Court, our outreach offices and the Family Relationship Centre.
Will I get paid?
This is a voluntary, non-paid position.
Law students interested in a professional placement will be required to work a minimum of 30 business days, but can work up to 80 days with BCLS.
BCLS is an independent Community Legal Service that is funded by the State and Federal Governments to provide free legal information, advice and casework to members of our local community.
Students must complete this placement based on their enrolled course version –
New course version (2017 onwards):
You will need to apply to enrol into MWL303 Business Internship. MWL303 can be counted as an LLB elective providing it is undertaken in a legal environment.
Previous course version (pre 2017):
You will be required to submit the appropriate Professional Experience forms on completion of your placement as part of the 30-day professional experience component of this version.
