Safety Induction Program

The mandatory Safety Induction Program for all students studying a Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built environment unit or course covers OH&S issues that are likely to be encountered during study.

Each unit comprises of a Safety Seminar and Safety Quiz.

Safety Seminars presented at the beginning of the trimester provide the information required to pass the quiz. Topics covered include OH&S responsibilities, emergency procedures, introduction to staff who assist with first aid and emergency evacuations and how to access the quiz on CloudDeakin.

The Safety Quiz must be completed as soon as possible with a pass mark of 70%. Failure to successfully complete the quiz may result in attendance in practical classes/workshops being restricted.

SRA010 - Architecture and Built Environment

It is mandatory for all students enrolled in units that have a practical structures laboratory or design component to complete SRA010. Further attendance in all practical classes may be restricted unless students have passed the online quiz with a mark of 70% or greater. Results for all units requiring the completion of SRA010 as a co-requisite may not be released until the quiz is passed.

Unit requirements:

  1. Attend the Safety Induction Seminar
  2. Pass the safety quiz before the end of week 3 of trimester

SEE010/SEJ010 - Engineering

It is mandatory for all students enrolled in a course or Engineering unit to complete SEE010. Your enrolment details will include Unit SEE010 if you are required to do it. Further attendance in all practical classes may be restricted unless you have passed the online quiz with a mark of 70% or greater. Results for all units requiring the completion of SEE010 as a co-requisite may not be released until the quiz is passed.

Unit requirements:

  1. Read and understand safety induction material via CloudDeakin site
  2. Pass the safety quiz before the end of week 2 of trimester

SIT010 - Information Technology

It is mandatory for all students enrolled in course offered by the School of Information Technology to complete SIT010. Your enrolment details will include Unit SIT010 if you are required to do it. Further attendance in classes may be restricted unless you have passed the online quiz with a mark of 70% or greater. Results for all units requiring the completion of SIT010 as a co-requisite may not be released until the quiz is passed.

Unit requirements:

SLE010 - Life and Environmental Sciences

It is mandatory for all students enrolled in a course or unit offered by Life & Environmental Sciences to complete SLE010. Your enrolment details will include Unit SLE010 if you are required to do it. Attendance in all practical classes and/or field trips may be restricted unless you have passed the online quiz with a mark of 70% or greater. Results for all units requiring the completion of SLE010 as a co-requisite may not be released until the quiz is passed.

  2. Pass the safety quiz before the end of week 2 of trimester

Cloud students

Cloud students should refer to their respective school's safety unit information above. A laboratory safety guide is posted on each unit site which provides all of the required information to complete the unit.

Students will need to complete the requirements of the safety unit within the time frames specified.
