Keepsakes and curiosities -  Deakin's desk drawers exhibition

Something new is coming to Deakin campuses – a snapshot of the last 40 years of Deakin history built out of the things we use most often. Did you know Deakin were inter-university sporting champions in 1995? Or that lectures were recorded all the way back in 1989?

For the past six months Deakin staff have been scouring their cupboards, cabinets, and yes, desk drawers, to find the old, the weird and the wonderful Deakin memorabilia they've accumulated over the decades.

Check the dates for your campus and come see the history of Deakin in a whole new way:

HDR workshops

Writing a thesis is challenging and requires high standards of academic writing. There are many ways to learn and develop your skills, such as, advice and feedback from your supervisor, peer writing groups, suggestions from books and websites, and lots of practice.  Language and Learning Advisers facilitate both campus and cloud (online) HDR workshops. See the list of topics below.

15 August– ib2.006 - Workshop 4: Writing the data analysis

This workshop emphasizes the importance of having a clear thesis or argument, and presenting your analysis of the data in light of this argument. Organising your chapters and sections clearly and academic language and style will also be included.

22 August – ib 3.102 - Workshop 5: Introductions and conclusions

We look at introductions and conclusions, and their purpose. We consider how they frame the thesis as a whole. We will also look at positioning your research in the broader field and explaining your focus and thesis/argument in context of language and style.

29 August– ib 3.102 - Workshop 6: Revising and editing your writing

This final workshop will look at revising what you have written as a whole and editing. It is also an opportunity for you to tell us what topics you would like in the future and for ongoing workshops.

To get times please see Study Skills HDR resource webpage.
