What is a student ambassador?

Deakin University student ambassadors are current Deakin students who are employed casually by the Marketing Division, whose principal role is to support the Student Recruitment team at recruitment events and activities, specifically to assist with the recruitment of prospective undergraduate students.

Importance of the role

As a Deakin student ambassador, you are the face of Deakin University and a key influence for prospective student's decision to study at Deakin.

You will provide information and advice from a student-centred viewpoint which helps to break down barriers and increase awareness of higher education in general and Deakin University in particular.

What type of activities are student ambassadors involved in?

You will be involved in a wide variety of activities throughout the recruitment year and across a variety of audiences including school leavers, careers advisers, parents and non-school leavers including TAFE students and mature age students.

As a Deakin student ambassador, you may have the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the following areas:

  • attending university events and expos both within metro Melbourne and regional Victoria
  • Campus tours
