Deakin bus services
The Deakin bus services are free, convenient and sustainable modes of transport. In Geelong, there are a few different options available to Deakin students and staff.
Park and Ride
In Geelong, there are two locations where students and staff can park their car (for free!) and catch the free bus to complete their journey.
Waterfront Express (departing Try Boys Basketball Stadium)
Take the pressure out of trying to find a car park in the Geelong CBD. Deakin’s new express bus service to the Waterfront campus is free to students and staff. Operating Monday to Friday, the first bus departs from the Try Boys Basketball Stadium at 501 Ryrie St, East Geelong (near the corner of Portarlington and Boundary Roads) at 7.30am with the last bus departing from the Waterfront at 6.15pm. The service runs as a continuous loop all day – approximately every 30 minutes! Here’s the timetable
Barwon Valley Activity Centre
Students and staff can park for free at Barwon Valley Activity Centre (BVAC), located at 1 Barwon Heads Road, Belmont (opposite Kmart). One of the Deakin shuttle buses will take you directly to either the Geelong Waterfront or Waurn Ponds campuses.
Our shuttle buses service the BVAC car park Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 8:30pm (excluding University holidays).
Geelong Intercampus Bus Service
The bus service travels regularly between the two Geelong campuses. It operates Monday to Friday from 6:45am to 8:55pm (excluding University holidays). WiFi is available on the bus (requires Deakin verification when logging on). The timetable provides a 30 minute frequency from each stop. Super convenient!
See the timetable here for operating times.
(Please note: Waurn Ponds departure times are from Stop 1 - Deakin Central Zone)
What if the bus is full?
There may be times that passenger demand exceeds seating capacity. We do our best to accommodate everyone, but this is not always possible. The alternative options are to wait a short time for the next bus, carpool with others or utilise the public transport bus service.
Burwood Shuttle Bus
In Burwood, the 201 bus route runs directly between Deakin and Box Hill bus port and train station. This service is operated by Public Transport Victoria, so you’ll need a Myki card to travel on it.
