Decline an offer

Declining an offer is an important decision - how to do this and alternatives to declining are explained

How to decline your offer

If you have not enrolled in your course you can decline your offer using the instructions below.

If you have readmitted, accepted or enrolled in your course you need to discontinue.

Alternatives to declining your offer

There are a number of options that are available at Deakin that might suit you:

  • You can reserve your place by deferring while you study another course, travel, work, have a family and many other reasons.  There is no obligation to take up your deferral once your time has elapsed, it just gives you options.  There is no cost to defer a course.
  • Take units in flexible ways such as through Cloud (online) study, studying part time, using Trimester 3 and using Cross Institutional study.
  • Investigate how course transfers work and if that is something you can work towards.

Seek advice if you are unsure

If you are unsure as to whether you wish to decline your offer or use one of the alternatives, speak to a faculty course adviser.

Decline a Deakin direct offer

Alternatively you can email Student Admissions and Enrolments and we will decline your offer for you.
