Apply your craft from day one. Not only will you get to work on multiple performance productions modelled on professional industry standards and presented to public audiences, you'll get to mix and mingle with industry practitioners and make contacts that will take you into your career. Keep the passion alive while working in and learning about theatre, industry workplaces and how to manage all aspects of a professional career performing in and producing performance. You'll graduate ready to audition, pitch and apply for future roles and to produce your own theatre productions, with a strong career development strategy that will set you on the right path to a successful future.

Undergraduate

Undergraduate (your first degree)

An undergraduate degree is generally completed between two to four years, depending on the pattern of study and any recognition of prior learning you may have. Associate degrees, bachelor and bachelor with honours are all undergraduate degrees.

Postgraduate

Postgraduate (further study)

A postgraduate qualification can be undertaken by students who have already completed an undergraduate degree or possess significant, demonstrable work experience. Postgraduate courses include graduate certificates, graduate diplomas, masters and PhDs, as well as specialist programs for industry professionals.

Research

Higher Degrees by Research (supervised research)

Research degrees are research based master’s or PhD programs that focus on a single area of expertise. They provide students the opportunity to carry out highly specialised research under expert supervision.

As a theatre course graduate, you’ll be equipped with appropriate skills for the expanding arts and entertainment industries. You may find employment in:

I undertook an internship as part of my course. I got to experience first-hand the unfolding process of a professional-level production, from rehearsals all the way to opening night. The internship gave me the opportunity to work with and learn from industry professionals.

We have three purpose-built performance studios so you can produce public performances at a professional standard. You can explore stage design, lighting, sound, production, stage management, publicity and marketing.

In the Bachelor of Creative Arts (Drama) you can explore complementary skills to become a well-rounded creative practitioner and maximise your career options. Choose to take elective units in photography, visual arts, dance, design, communication or media.

One of our recent research projects 'Equal to life: empowerment through drama and research in a drama group for people with disabilities' considers constraints experienced by people with disabilities and explores the ways that experiences in theatre can be particularly empowering for them.
