Sport Development is distinctive due to its unique focus on three main streams of study: sport management and marketing; sport coaching; and sport and exercise science. It also focuses on the development of sport, and community development through sport.

Undergraduate study

The Bachelor of Sport Development focuses on the development of sport (sports systems and planning for participation) and development through sport (building social capital and cohesion in communities through sport).

This specialist field is concerned with increasing participation in sport through the design of sport systems and pathways in order to attract, retain and nurture participants.
 
You will receive instruction in three areas of specialisation: sport management and marketing, coaching, and exercise and sport science.

Career opportunities

The Bachelor of Sport Development prepares students for careers in coaching, the leisure industry, sports science and in the field of community sports development.  Roles include -
