Change 100 Lives Rural and Regional Relocation Scholarship

The Change 100 Lives Rural and Regional Relocation Scholarship will help to ease the financial burden associated with moving away from home to attend university, enabling students to pursue their study ambitions.

Eligibility criteria

All conditions must be met

  • An Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • a commencing student enrolled for the first time at Deakin University in your first year of your undergraduate bachelor degree in Trimester 1 2016
  • enrolled full time in a Commonwealth supported place
  • able to demonstrate you are in receipt of a means-test Centrelink benefit or have a combined family taxable income under the HECS-HELP repayment threshold, depending on independence status.
  • come from a rural or regional home location and have moved from your home location to study on-campus at Deakin University.

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information you provide in your application and supporting documentation.

Special conditions

The scholarship is subject to satisfactory academic performance. You must maintain a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 60 throughout your studies. 

Successful recipients will be required to write a yearly statement highlighting the impact receiving this support has had on them personally and on their studies during the year.

Opening and closing dates

Applications for Trimester 1 2016 open 3 August 2015.

VTAC scholarship applications close 16 October 2015 at 5pm.

All other applications close: 7 January 2016 at 5pm.

How to apply

2016 VTAC course applicants

If you are applying for a place at Deakin University in Trimester 1 2016 via VTAC you must complete a VTAC Scholarships Application.

All other applicants

Apply online via the Deakin Course and Scholarship Applicant Portal.

Supporting documentation

As part of the application process you will also be required to provide supporting documentation. You must email your supporting documents with your applicant ID number in the subject line to no later than the closing date of the scholarship if you are applying for a scholarship directly through Deakin University.

The supporting documentation required includes evidence of:

  • your financial hardship.
