How to apply for scholarships
You could be eligible for one of Deakin University's undergraduate or postgraduate by coursework scholarships. We offer a range of academic merit and access and equity scholarships.
Who can complete a scholarship application?
All applications must be completed by you as the applicant. Applications must not be completed by a third party without approval from the Scholarships and Financial Assistance Office.
If you are not the applicant and intend to complete an application on behalf of a Deakin student or future Deakin student, you must provide the Scholarships and Financial Assistance Office with a copy of a General Power of Attorney form before the application is submitted. Forms can be submitted to email@example.com.

Please read the How to apply section on each scholarship for closing dates, instructions on the application process and supporting documentation information.
If you are:
- commencing your studies at Deakin you will need to apply directly to Deakin for some scholarships and via VTAC for others. Read the How to apply section on each scholarship to make sure you can be considered for all scholarships you would be eligible for.
- currently enrolled at Deakin University you will need to apply directly to Deakin for all scholarships you are eligible for.
Applications direct to Deakin
Scholarship applications are made via the Deakin Course and Scholarship Applicant Portal. You will need to ensure you register your details to obtain an applicant ID. This number will be required when you email your supporting documentation. Once you have logged in to the portal, click on Apply -> Scholarships and Grants and you will be taken through the application process.
You will be required to provide your personal details in Step 1 and will be asked some questions in Step 2 to determine your eligibility for the scholarships on offer. All scholarships you are eligible for will be listed. Select the scholarships you'd like to apply for. You will then be given the opportunity to provide written responses to the questions in Step 4. You will be asked to provide detailed responses to questions like 'How your experience and skills demonstrate that you have the characteristics required for this scholarship' or 'How will this scholarship benefit you?'.
Spend some time, review your responses. The information you provide can change your future!
You will then be able to review your application in Step 5 and you can go back and edit your responses if needed. When you are ready to submit your application in Step 6, click on the 'Submit Selected Applications' button. You will receive confirmation of your application via email.
After submitting your application you must email your supporting documentation with your applicant ID number in the subject line to firstname.lastname@example.org by the closing date of the scholarship.
Further information on what documentation you need to provide is available from Supporting documentation.
