IGNITED Scholarship - Igniting female interest in engineering, information technology and construction management

IGNITED scholarships are offered to attract more female students into non-traditional areas of study and work. Scholarships are awarded to successful applicants entering an approved undergraduate course offered by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment. If you’re a female student interested in applying for any of the courses listed below, we encourage you to also apply for this scholarship.

Cash payment or student contributions (tuition fees) up to $5000 per year and an academic mentor.

Eligibility criteria

All conditions must be met

  • female
  • an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • a student enrolled at Deakin University in your first year of your undergraduate bachelor degree in 2017
  • enrolled full time in a Commonwealth supported place in one of the following bachelor degrees:
    - Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours)
    - Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Honours)
    - Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering (Honours)
    - Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Honours)
    - Bachelor of Computer Science
    - Bachelor of Information Technology
    - Bachelor of Cyber Security
    - Bachelor of Games Design and Development
    - Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours)
  • enrolled at Burwood (Melbourne), Waterfront (Geelong), Waurn Ponds (Geelong) or Cloud

Preference will be given to a student commencing in Trimester 1 2017.

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information provided in your application. 

Year 12 applicants must achieve a minimum ATAR of 70 and satisfactory completion of the published course specific requirements.

Consideration will be given for non-Year 12 applicants based on academic merit (previous 12 results and/or GPA for post secondary studies deemed at or above the equivalent of a 70 ATAR.)

Opening and closing dates

Applications for Trimester 1 2017 open 29 August 2016 and close 12 January 2017 at 5pm.
