The Neilson Foundation Scholarships

The Neilson Foundation (in association with Platinum Asset Management) would like to offer one scholarship for continuing students. At the end of the year, you may be given the opportunity to apply to gain one month's paid work experience in Sydney in association with Platinum Asset Management.

Eligibility criteria

All conditions must be met

  • An Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • a current student enrolled at Deakin University in the Bachelor of Commerce and majoring in Financial Planning in Trimester 1 2017
  • enrolled full time in a Commonwealth Supported Place
  • commencing the second year of your course in Trimester 1 2017
  • have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 from your first year of studies.

Selection criteria

Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information you provide in your application. As part of your application, you will be required to provide a statement of how the scholarship will assist your studies and career goals.

Special conditions

At the end of the scholarship year the recipient will be required to submit a two-page report setting out what they wish to gain from the Financial Planning industry.

Opening and closing dates

Applications for Trimester 1 2017 open 10 October 2016 and close 12 January 2017 at 5pm.

How to apply Apply online via the Deakin Course and Scholarship Applicant Portal. You will need to ensure you register your details to obtain an applicant ID. Once you have logged into the portal, click on Apply -> Scholarships and Grants and you will be taken through the application process. 

You will be able to review your application in Step 5 and you can go back and edit your responses if needed.  When you are ready, submit your application in Step 6, click on the 'Submit Selected Applications' button. You will receive confirmation of your application via email. You should then upload your documentation using the Upload Documents button.
