May and Romeo Schiavon honours scholarships in rural and regional journalism

This scholarship was established by the May and Romeo Schiavon Endowment to encourage students to undertake an honours project in regional journalism.

Cash payment or student contributions of up to $5000

One year, it is expected that the recipient will complete their honours year within 12 calendar months.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship you must be:

  • an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • enrolled full time in an honours degree with the Faculty of Arts and Education at Deakin University in a Commonwealth Supported Place undertaking a project in regional journalism

Selection criteria

Selection is based on academic achievement and submission of a proposal for an honours project in regional journalism.

All applicants must apply directly to Deakin University via the Deakin Course and Scholarships Applicant Portal.

Supporting documentation

In support of your application you will be required to submit a proposal for an honours project in regional journalism. This proposal should be submitted via email to the Scholarships Office at scholarships@deakin.edu.au 

Your proposal must be submitted to the Scholarships Office by the scholarship closing date.

Closing Date

Applications for Trimester 1 2015 open 4 August 2014 and close 27 February 2015.
