The den Hollander Scholarship will enable Deakin University students to reach their full potential and make their goals a reality – whether they dream of making a difference in industry, undertaking pioneering research or dedicating their talents to serving the community.

Eligibility criteria

All conditions must be met

  • Be an Australian citizen or holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa
  • be a current Deakin student enrolled full time in your second or third year of an undergraduate bachelor degree at Deakin University in Trimester 1 2017 
  • be enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place
  • have a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 70
  • be able to demonstrate that you were educated at a public high school in Australia
  • be the first generation in your family to attend university
  • be able to show an outstanding commitment to supporting our communities.

Selection criteria Your application will be assessed and ranked based on the information you provide in your application and supporting documentation.
Special conditions Shortlisted applicants may be requested to complete a separate application form once eligibility has been confirmed.
Opening and closing dates Applications for Trimester 1 2017 open 10 October 2016  and close 12 January 2017 at 5pm.
How to apply

Scholarship applications are made via Deakin Course and Scholarship Applicant Portal. You will need to ensure you register your details to obtain an applicant ID. Once you have logged into the portal, click on Apply -> Scholarships and Grants and you will be taken through the application process. 

You will be able to review your application in Step 5 and you can go back and edit your responses if needed.  When you are ready, submit your application in Step 6, click on the 'Submit Selected Applications' button. You will receive confirmation of your application via email. You should then upload your documentation using the Upload Documents button.

Supporting documentation

As part of the application process you will also be required to provide supporting documentation. Your application will not be considered complete until you upload your documentation.

The supporting documentation required includes:

  • your community involvement.

The supporting documentation also requires evidence that you were educated at a public high school in Australia. The following documentation is acceptable:

  • High School Certificate (VCE) result
  • Report card
  • Signed statement from the school confirming your years of attendance on a school letterhead
  • A Statutory Declaration declaring the name of your school and the years you attended.

Make sure you choose the correct Document type when you upload your documents as it will make a difference.  If your documents are uploaded into the incorrect Document type they will not be considered when assessing your application. Remember it is quality, not quantity, which you need to provide.  Aim to provide documents which are current, relevant and concise. When will I know You will know the outcome of your application within six weeks of the closing date.
