Professor Chris Gray

Professor Gray commenced in January 2013 as the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Integrity). Chris is responsible for quality assurance and regulatory compliance and is the primary liaison with the Australian Government Education Department (currently DIISRTE), the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) and the Australian Qualifications Framework Council (AQFC).

Prior to this appointment Chris was the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Programs and Integrity) and before that, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the then Faculty of Science and Technology at Deakin.

Chris holds a Bachelors degree with honours in Chemistry from the University of Lancaster, a Masters degree in Environmental Pollution Control from the University of Leeds and a PhD from the University of Bradford. He is a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and was made Fellow of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists in 2006.

Professor Gray came to Deakin in 1989 as an Associate Professor and Head of the Occupational Hygiene Program. Research included the ‘Health Watch’ study of the health of workers in the petroleum industry and a case-control study of leukaemia and other haematopoietic cancers in this cohort.

In 2000 Professor Gray became a member of the Academic Board Executive and Chair of the Teaching and Learning Committee and the Information Technology Committee. He was the Chair of the Academic Board from 2005-2007.
