Ron Fairchild

Ron Fairchild is the Vice-President (Advancement). This is a new position for the University that covers a broad range of activities related to community engagement. Prior to joining Deakin University Ron was the Vice President, Advancement at Monash University where he helped to establish the Advancement portfolio. Over the seven years Ron served at Monash, philanthropic support to the University increased from less than $4 million annually to a high watermark of over $50 million in 2012. During this time Monash also built a highly effective alumni relations program that addressed a worldwide scope.

Before coming to Australia with his wife and two children in 2005, Ron was a founding partner of Navion, one of Canada’s leading fundraising consulting firms. He later became President of DVA Navion which was an international consulting firm with offices in Australia, Canada, South Africa and the United States. As a managing consultant Ron worked with over 100 charitable organisations including universities, hospitals and civic entities which collectively raised close to $1 billion.

As Vice-President (Advancement), Ron is responsible for helping to build strong relationships with a number of key constituencies through alumni relations, donor relations, government relations and public affairs.

Ron has served as a Board Member of the Heart Foundation Victorian Division since 2006 and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
