Deakin teaching periods
Deakin University offers most courses across three trimesters, so the next study intake is never far away. Upcoming intakes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses are:
- Trimester 2, 2026. The teaching period begins Monday 6 July.
- Trimester 3, 2026. The teaching period begins Monday 2 November.
- Trimester 1, 2027. The teaching period to be confirmed.

Deakin research application and intake dates
The intake dates for Deakin research students in 2026 are as follows:
- Intake 1: 25 February 2026
- Intake 2: 1 May 2026
- Intake 3: 1 July 2026
- Intake 4: 27 October 2026.
Important research intake notes
If you're unsure which faculty or institute your research degree falls under, check your supervisor’s profile for details on the relevant faculty or institute.
- International students pursuing a research degree or PhD with the Faculty of Arts and Education may not commence in Intake 1.
- Students applying for a research degree or PhD with the Faculty of Business and Law may not commence in Intake 2.
