The Australian National Business School (ANBS) Limited is a consortium of six of Australia's leading Business School's: Canberra, Deakin, Griffith, Tasmania, Wollongong and Western Australia. These Schools have combined their resources and expertise to provide their students and corporate clients with an MBA that follows a national framework, and which meets the highest international standards. ANBS also provides a collaborative, Australia wide, network for the provision of executive education and contract research.
Across the consortium, the MBA is offered in a variety of on-campus modes and by distance (through Deakin University). Students at member universities have the possibility to transfer or undertake part of their program at an alternative member institution. This is an important advantage for part-time students whose career might take them interstate on a permanent or temporary basis, or whose work commitments might require them to change their mode of study from on-campus to distance or visa-versa.
The ANBS consortium has a range of MBA units that are common among members. There are up to eight core units. The core units cover: accounting, finance, organisational behaviour, economics, marketing, international business, data analysis and decision making, and strategic management. While individual core unit titles may vary between member institutions, the content and overall assessment criteria are consistent and units completed at one member institution are fully recognized at other member institutions.
The MBA offered by ANBS members is also supported by learning materials prepared jointly by experts from each university in the ANBS consortium. A compendium of materials has been prepared for each core MBA unit by a unit team consisting of subject specialists from each member university. These materials have been placed on the ANBS Support Materials CD-ROM which is given to all MBA students and staff at member universities and is also used in other masters level business programs. Students and staff can draw upon these additional resources to add to the learning experience.
For students not wishing to undertake the complete MBA program, ANBS consortium members offer two intermediate graduate qualifications, a Graduate Certificate of Business Administration and a Graduate Diploma of Business Administration.
In addition, ANBS offers students from all Australian universities and approved international universities the opportunity to accelerate their program of study and develop an important specialisation in the cultural and business aspects of doing Business in Asia via the ANBS Asian Intensive School for Advanced Management (AISAM) program. The AISAM program will be offered for the 16th consecutive year in 2011. AISAM is an advanced intensive international management program for MBA and other masters level business students, and for experienced managers from industry and government. Successful completion of the AISAM program, which is normally conducted in Penang Malaysia each June/July, gains credit for one or two units of study.
ANBS reflects a commitment to national educational leadership and to the provision of high quality, innovative management education – delivered nationally and internationally.
