March with Deakin | 2020 Pako Festa Parade

Saturday 29 February 2020
Pakington Street | Geelong West

Event details

Pako Festa is Australia's largest free multi-cultural event, held annually in Geelong West's iconic Pakington Street. From its humble beginnings 37 years ago the event continues to make a significant contribution to the region and state through its celebration of ethnic diversity, acceptance and harmony. The 2019 event attracted over 100,000 spectators and involved approximately 5000 participants from 39 diverse communities.

As a proud sponsor of Pako Festa, Deakin will participate in the parade and we invite you to join us! This year's theme, Elements of Culture, focuses on cultural food, traditional costumes and folkloric dance and music. We're looking for Deakin alumni, students and staff to march in the parade.

To celebrate the diversity of our community, you're encouraged to wear traditional cultural dress. Alternatively we'll provide you with a graduation gown or Deakin t-shirt.

If you're interested in participating, please register your details below by Friday 21 February 2020.

Please note: all parade participants must have the physical stamina and wellbeing to partake in the entire parade route – approximately 1 hour.
