Deakin Business School partners with KPMG to foster Integrated Reporting research

Deakin Business School's Department of Accounting is embarking on exciting developments in the area of Integrated Reporting (<IR>). Integrated reporting is an emerging trend in corporate reporting aiming to provide an integrated representation of the key factors that are material to an organisation’s present and future value creation and to provide strategic sustainability-related information along with the traditional financial information.The new partnership with KPMG sees the appointment of Michael Bray as the KPMG Fellow in <IR>.

Michael joined the department in July 2016 after retiring as an audit partner at KPMG. He is a leading international expert in business reporting, particularly <IR>. His role is to provide leadership in developing <IR> research projects, as well as develop and deliver course content in the area of <IR> in undergraduate, postgraduate and executive education.

In addition to fostering research, Michael will lead the development of teaching materials on <IR> for the University. He will also support collaboration between KPMG, the University of New South Wales and Deakin to provide education and training in <IR> under the auspices of the International Integrated Reporting Council. 

As Michael continues to consult KPMG and its clients, his active professional practice will be vital in ensuring the understanding of real-life impacts in this emerging discipline of professional accounting practice.
