Alumni news

29 January 2019

Welcome to this first edition of the dKin Times for 2019.

We’re into a brand new year – full of potential, possibilities and opportunities. The beginning of the year is a good a time to renew connections with old friends and affirm new ones. I encourage you to renew your connection with Deakin, check that we have your current details, and connect with us online on Facebook and LinkedIn. Remember the Alumni Birthday competition too, it’s free to enter and open to all Deakin alumni celebrating their birthday in the given month during the competition period.

And if you or one of your family is thinking of studying in 2019, take advantage of the benefits and services Deakin offers its alumni, especially our Postgraduate bursary. Or you may prefer to try one of the free taster courses on FutureLearn. There are eight postgraduate degrees to choose from including Cyber Security, Digital learning Leadership and Entrepreneurship. There’s also a wide range of podcasts and webinars on the Alumni website. And if you’re a recent graduate, don’t forget Deakin is participating in the Graduate Outcomes Survey again.

And in this beautiful weather, why not consider joining us at the Pride March or at the Pako Festa Geelong parade.

Finally – very best wishes for a wonderful 2019, I hope it will bring you fulfilment and success. Enjoy reading our monthly alumni newsletter and all the Deakin publications – it’s a great way to keep in touch with Deakin and hear the latest news and research.

Jane den Hollander AO
President and Vice-Chancellor
