Role focuses on international research collaborations

Professor Wanlei Zhou, Alfred Deakin Professor and former Head of Deakin University’s School of Information Technology, has been appointed Associate Dean (International Research Engagement) in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment. 

‘International collaborations in research will help increase our research output as it brings the benefits of scope and scale, and will potentially enable our researchers to participate in advanced research projects that have both world-wide significance and local implications,’ Professor Zhou said when asked about his new role.

‘I'm honoured to take the position of Associate Dean (International Research Engagement) for the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment and look forward to working with my colleagues to extend our existing international research engagement and to develop new links to the advantage of all of the faculty’s disciplines.’

Professor Zhou’s research interests include distributed systems, network security, bioinformatics, and e-learning. He has published more than 300 papers in refereed international journals and refereed international conferences proceedings and has chaired many international conferences.
