Biography
Dr Ameeta Jain is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Finance in Deakin Business School. Prior to joining Deakin, Ameeta worked as a lecturer at Delhi University and Monash University. She completed her MPhil at the Delhi School of Economics and a PhD at Federation University, Australia. She has more than 15 years of teaching experience in Economics, Property and Finance units and has led unit teams in the development and enhancement of various units.
Ameeta is passionate about teaching and has been rewarded consistently for her teaching excellence. She is the director of property programs at Deakin, where she is responsible for managing industry accreditation for property courses. She believes in promoting student engagement to promote deeper learning.
Ameeta's primary research interests are in resilience and sustainability with particular emphasis on the approaches by business and associated stakeholders to advance sustainable organisations and cities. She has had many successful government and industry grants on the application of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in national and regional settings. Her research has high impact as evidenced by the utilisation of the findings by National and local governments as well as property industry. She has published in highly ranked international peer-reviewed journals as well as written for media on current trends in property market.

My research is informed by my training in sustainability and resilience. My research is most often multi-disciplinary and directed towards examining issues of resilience and sustainability within the property and financial markets.
In doing so my research contributes to the DBS themes “Business and Society” and to Deakin 2030 Ideas to Impact strategy through the themes of Building Safe and Secure Communities and Enabling a Sustainable World as well as the multidisciplinary vision of the HOME research hub. My research is high impact and is being utilised by industry and governments for sustainable outcomes.
I have produced several reports focussing on Sustainable cities (Sustainable Development Goal 11) which have been highly regarded by industry and government stakeholders. This has contributed to my growing recognition both locally and internationally as an expert in this area. I have been invited by media and industry groups on various occasions to discuss my research described in the sections on media and industry engagement below.
