Biography summary
Argaw obtained his first degree in Construction Technology and Management from Addis Ababa University in 2006. He completed his Master of Civil Engineering (Construction Technology and Management Major) with very great distinction from Addis Ababa University in 2011. Argaw received his PhD in Construction Management from the University of Melbourne.
From 2006 to 2014, he worked as a lecturer of quantity surveying, project management, construction economics, cost engineering and concrete technology at Addis Ababa University. Before, joining Deakin University in 2018, Argaw was a Sessional Academic Staff at the University of Melbourne from 2015 to 2017. At Deakin, he is teaching cost planning, building measurement and estimating, project management, strategic construction procurement and other construction management units.
Argaw has published in the top-ranked journals in construction management such as Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (ASCE), both as sole author and with other researchers. Currently, he is a reviewer of reputable journals including International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management (IJPPM), International Journal of Construction Management and Built Environment Project and Asset Management (BEPAM). His research interests include construction labour productivity, construction management practices, building defects’ investigation, construction cost analysis, life cycle analysis and sustainable construction.
Besides, the academic career, Argaw worked as project manager, resident engineer and quantity surveyor (contract administrator) on various building and road projects. The projects in which he was involved were delivered successfully.
