Biography
Dr Bipasha Kashyap is a Lecturer in Mechatronics at the School of Engineering, Deakin University. Prior to joining academia, as part of her post-doctoral engagement, she worked as an Applied Machine Learning Research Engineer in the NSBE Research Group, School of Engineering, Deakin University and led a team of ML engineers in a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) – Biomedical Translation Bridge project that involved the product development and commercialisation of medical grade assistive devices. She has been honoured with the prestigious Data61 Ph.D. scholarship, CSIRO and has completed her Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering with the NSBE research group in 2021. She received a B.E. degree (first-class honours) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Gauhati University, India, and a M.E. degree (first-class honours) in Electronics and Management Engineering from Deakin University, Australia.
She received the Outstanding Final Project Award in her M.E. with an opportunity to present her project to the then honourable Prime Minister of Australia (Malcolm Turnbull) in Engineers Australia. She holds the prestigious 2016 veski inspiring women Victorian Fellowship, following which she worked with Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) as a Hardware Design Engineer, 2017.
During her PhD, she has received multiple awards in university, national and international science competitions for outstanding creative research demonstrations in the 3 Minute Thesis, Visualise Your Thesis and FameLab Competitions. She has also established a strong collaboration with renowned neurologists and researchers from Florey Institute of Neuroscience, Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, Alfred Health Cerebellar Ataxia Clinic and CSIRO-Data61.
