Biography summary

Dr Dominic Ahiaga-Dagbui holds a PhD in Infrastructure Delivery and Construction Project Management from the University of Edinburgh (UK), completing the thesis "Rethinking Construction Cost Overruns". Dominic also holds an MSc (with distinction) in Civil Engineering and Construction Management from Heriot-Watt University (UK) in addition to a BSc (Hons, First Class) in Building Technology from KNUST, Ghana.

Prior to joining Deakin University, Dominic was Lecturer of Construction & Project Management at Robert Gordon University, UK (2014 - 2017) and a Tutor in Civil Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, UK (2012 - 2014). Dominic was also a Visiting Research Scholar at the Department of Civil Engineering, Curtin University, Australia (May 2016).

Dominic is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA), a Member of the Australian Cost Engineering Society (ACES) and an Incorporated Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

Research interests

Dr Ahiaga-Dagbui's research focuses on delivery of large and complex infrastructure projects, taking into consideration future operational costs, adaptability and end-user needs. His academic contributions are in the areas of construction cost overrun, future-proofing infrastructure, front-end project governance, client capabilities for cost-effective asset procurement and offshore decommissioning.
