Biography
Dr Prime is the Manager of the Future Fibres Hub, established with funding provided by the ARC under the Industrial Transformation Research Hub Scheme, and contributions from Deakin University and several industrial partners.
She has a background in polymer research, in particular managing research projects from the laboratory through scale-up towards potential commercialisation.
Qualifications
- Graduate Certificate in Research Commercialisation, RMIT, 2010
- Doctor of Philosophy, The University of Melbourne, 2007
- Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Hons), The University of Melbourne, 2003
- Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry), The University of Melbourne, 2003
Career highlights
2016 - Present: Manager, ARC Future Fibres Hub, Institute for Frontier Materials, Deakin University
2007 - 2016: Project Manager/Research Fellow, Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering, The University of Melbourne
Research interests
Dr Prime's research background is in polymer science and monolayer technology. She has experience in polymer synthesis and characterisation, and investigation of monolayer formation and properties at the air/water interface.
Dr Prime is interested in the commercial aspects of science and has worked on several applied research projects including water evaporation suppression and protective films for the Great Barrier Reef. She is currently focussed on translating research from the laboratory, through scale-up, to commercialisation.
