Biography

I initially trained in Canada as a paramedic in 1994 and further studied for a Bachelor of Physical Education in 1996. I moved from Canada to Australia in 2001 after completing a Master of Physical Education. I spent four years at the Australian Institute of Sport (Canberra, 2001 to 2005) working primarily in strength and conditioning of basketball athletes, and graduated with a PhD from Victoria University (Melbourne) in 2006. I commenced an academic position at Charles Sturt University (Bathurst, NSW) in 2005, moved to Edith Cowan University in 2014, and finally Deakin University in 2016. I am now the course director for Deakin's Master of Applied Sport Science. I am an accredited coach with the Australian Strength and Conditioning Association, a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist and accredited through Fitness Australia.
