Biography
Dr. Gayani Karunasena completed her B.Sc (Honours) degree in Quantity Surveying and MPhil degree in Construction Information Technology at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2001 and 2006, respectively, and read for her PhD in Construction and Property Management at the University of Salford, UK graduating in 2013. Current research interest focuses mainly on waste management in various contexts in construction industry. Specifically use of innovative technologies to recover C&D waste by improving reusing and recycling and waste water recovery by application of Industrial Symbiosis (IS) concept.
Prior to joining Deakin University, Dr. Gayani was a senior lecturer at the Department of Building Economics, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. Gayani is a Member of Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (AIQS), Australia and Associate Member of Institute of Quantity Surveying, Sri Lanka.
