Presented at the 2012 joint International Conference of the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE) and the Asia Pacific Educational Research Association (APERA).

Professional activities



From 2012 to 2016 ran a series of Intercultural Seminars for staff and students, attracting academics, professional staff and students from across the University and from community groups and organisations.

Member of University Diversity and Inclusion Working Group until 2020.


 

Awards

2012 Pro Vice-Chancellor's Award for achieving excellence in administration

2013 Faculty Internationalisation Award

Recipient of 2015 Vice-Chancellor's Professional Award.  The aim is to benchmark Deakin’s Intercultural Encounters seminar series with similar professional development offered at universities in the United States.

2016 received Vice-Chancellor's Award for outstanding contribution to Healthy Deakin.

Projects

Helen's minor thesis was on the topic of "Developing Intercultural Competence in University Staff: Augmenting Internationalisation". This project involved interviews with general staff across Deakin.

Its focus was to ascertain what is provided by the University as well as what is required to develop intercultural competence in University general staff.
