Biography
John Lamp is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Business Analytics in Deakin Business School. John entered academia after working in the information systems industry. His experience in this area informs his teaching in the project management area. His involvement in that area has tended towards Agile methodologies and he is a Certified Scrum Master. Another focus is work-integrated learning, and in 2015 he was appointed to the position of Academic Director of Industry-Based Learning.
His PhD thesis, awarded in 2011, was awarded the gold medal of the Australian Council of Professors and Heads of Information Systems. The thesis concerned identifying perceptions of categorisation of information, to enable a more complete understanding of categories. The research used a phenomenological approach based on the literary ontologies of Roman Ingarden. One of John’s early occupations was printing, and his ongoing interest in this area has informed research into the impact of digital disruptive technologies on the future of the book. He has been Editor-in-Chief of the A-ranked Australasian Journal of Information Systems since 2013. Under his direction, AJIS has moved towards a modern green open access journal. It is now comprehensively indexed and supports ORCID researcher identification.
