Biography
Kelemu is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Global Centre for Preventive Health and Nutrition (GLOBE) at Deakin University. He holds a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Medical Statistics from the University of Newcastle, along with an MPH in Epidemiology and a bachelor's degree in public health from universities in Ethiopia. Kelemu is an early-career epidemiologist and public health researcher.
Kelemu's research focuses on maternal health, population nutrition, noncommunicable diseases and determinants of health. He has a notable publication record, with 22 articles published (18 as first or senior author) in reputable peer-reviewed journals including BMJ Open, PloS One and Public Health Nutrition with an h-index of 14 and over 1458 citations.
He has also presented his research findings at several national and international conferences. In addition to his research contributions, he regularly serves as a manuscript reviewer for various peer-reviewed journals, including BMJ Open, PloS One, Scientific Reports, and Public Health Nutrition.
Kelemu has held the position of University Lecturer and Researcher for several years at the Wollega University. In this capacity, he has prepared course materials and delivered lectures on Epidemiology, Basic Biostatistics, and Research Methods.
He has expertise and practical experience in data management and analysis. He is proficient in applying advanced statistical modelling techniques, including generalized linear models, multilevel mixed effect models, propensity score analysis, and meta-analysis, using software such as STATA, SPSS, and ArcGIS.
