Biography
Ly Tran is a Professor in the School of Education, Deakin University and an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow. Her research focuses on international education, international students, student mobility, international student graduate employability, Australian students' learning and engagament in the Indo-Pacific region via the New Colombo Plan and staff professional learning in international education. She also undertakes research on higher education, vocational education and graduate employability in Vietnam and China.
Ly is an affiliated faculty member of the Centre for Higher Education Internationalisation, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan. She is also a Visiting Professor at Phu Xuan University, Vietnam, Toyo University, Japan and Hitotsubashi University, Japan. She is the Vice-chair of IEEE Task force on Educational Data Mining, affiliated with the Data Mining and Big Data Analytics Technical Committee of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society. Ly is a leader of the International Student Graduate Employability Research Group.
Ly has been awarded five grants (Fellowships and joint) on international students, student moblity, the New Colombo Plan, internationalisation of teaching and learning and staff professional development in international education from the Australian Research Council. She won the Highly Commended Award in the 2019 Emerald Literati Awards. Her co-edited book, International Student Connectedness and Identity: Transnational Perspectives, won the Honorary Place in the 2019 Best Book Award category of the Comparative International Education Society (CIES) Study Abroad & International Students SIG.
Ly has produced more than 180 publications (published and in press) in a wide range of outlets. She has been invited to give a number of keynote and featured talks at various national and international conferences on key issues related to international education, international students, student mobility, the New Colombo Plan, the teaching of international students and education in Vietnam.
